Having a good experience with a title loan lender is based on expectations and cooperation. Before you apply for a title loan you should take a few moments preparing yourself.
THINGS YOU SHOULD DIG UP NOW:
+ Your car title. If you can’t find it, apply IN PERSON at your DMV for a duplicate. Online will drag out the process.
+ Proof that you have income. Typically lenders look for $1500 a month in deposits from reliable sources.
+ Some UNOPENED junk mail. Believe it or not, this proves residency. Your name is on the envelope and you got it so you must live there right?
+ Pictures of your car. All fours sides and the inside odometer reading.
+ Some references – like 6 of them. 1/2 family and 1/2 friends. Get addresses and phone numbers.
+ The addresses you lived for the last 5 years of your life.
Okay so you got your documents in order. Great. Now apply online and when you do here is what you should expect:
Depending on the lender and your area AND the day of the week you applied, you should get a call back from a loan processor. Typically this will NOT be the person who approves your loan. This will be their assistant. They will determine if you have what is needed to get the loan and if not, send you on your way. If you do, then they will go get approval for a loan amount for you.
Once the underwriter commits to a pre-approval of an amount and the cursory review of your documents, they will set a firm offer. This will include amount, interest rate, payment amount, any fees associated with the loan and reviews for anything that may snag the final approval of this loan.
Finally, they check. Making sure everything looks legit, they send you to a nearly store, broker, signing location or associate to sign your loan docs and get your money.
